Rotary Club of Conifer Evening Meeting

Announcements/Business

  • Angela discussed upcoming ads in the Canyon Courier.  Janine will contact the newspaper regarding the fees.  Janine noted that the check presentation pictured in a recent addition of the Canyon Emergency Room was last years and that the donation was about $10,000 more than that which was pictured on the check in the paper.
  • Janine spoke about Carol Carper’s (Evergreen Rotary) upcoming trip to Kenya, contact her if interested.
  • There will be a program presented by Jefferson County on water use in the conifer area.  It will be on 11/3/18 at West Jeff Middle School from 0800-1200.
  • Janine brought us up to date on the condition of Charlotte’s son.  While he was working on the Habitat for Humanity house, he fell off the roof and sustained multiple significant injuries.  He is in the Trauma Care Unit at Swedish Medical Center.  Charlotte has been with him extensively during his recovery period.
  • Today is World Polio Day
  • Janine: Reported on the District Governor’s visit to the morning meeting.
  • Angela talked about the Soldiers’ Box sponsored by Gail Shepard of the Evergreen Rotary Club and TallGrass.  She had worked on getting letters written to the veterans to enclose in the boxes sent.  The letters were written by students and were very touching.
The boxes will go out on November 9.   $17 for each box.  The most important items are the simplest: shampoo, deodorant, soap and women’s hygiene supplies.  The soldiers in Forward Operating Bases especially need these supplies.
  • The Town Hall meeting on November14th, is the same day as our evening group meeting.  Angela indicated that we needed to be there by 1830.  Christy will be at the church at 1700 to assemble backpacks.  Given the constraints on our times, it may be best that we meet at West Jeff Middle School at 1830 and discuss any issues pertinent to our group at that time.
  • Janine   presented a Most Inspirational Member certificate to Angela; all of her good work, always done with a smile and a New Jersey accent.
  • Charles Harrison has been diligently working on membership criteria.  He recently sent an email outlining his proposal for analyzing our current membership and process for obtaining new members.
  • Some dates to remember, more information is available on our club website under Upcoming Events (we have a website!) https://rotaryconifer.org.
