Announcements/Business:
  • The District 5450 webinars are available on-line at the District website.
  • All District 5450 Clubs are encouraged to perform a community service project May 8, 2021 and to promote Rotary through the project. Lesley will be reaching out to determine how we can spend our time.
  • The Mountain Foothills Rotary Ice-melt is going forward: evergreenicemelt.com. Guess the day/time the barrel will fall thru the ice.

  • There is a zoom call this morning connecting 9Health Fair and the Rotary District 5450.
  • The Conifer Rotary Valentine’s dinner is a Foundation fund-raiser. Castles and Kitchens will be making dinners that the community can order and either pick up or can be delivered at an additional charge. More details will be forth-coming
  • The Mask-querade. 500 masks were made. $1987.67 was raised for the Foundation. The left-over masks will be donated to the community. Let Leonor know of community needs.
  • Rotary Youth Exchange had its interviews last week via zoom. There were 12 students interviewed---5 were from last year. Three are from previous families who sent students abroad. There are 3 countries that have guaranteed exchange plans: Germany, Croatia, Brazil. There will be scholarships for kids for next year. The youth exchange officer training for Cathy Taylor will be coming up soon. There will be training for “parents”. RI will stop the process if the COVID danger worsens.
  • We need help to pick up food from the Food Bank of the Rockies Thursday January 28, 10am in front of IMHS in Pine Junction. Thanks to Arana, Lesley, Dean

We have given over $240,000 since the founding of our Conifer Rotary Foundation
 
Conifer Area Council: $600 for a Laptop that provides access to the Council zoom meetings.
 
Mount Evans Home Care and Hospice: $ 2,000. Mountain Journey.
  • Serves people not formally attached to medical services…due to many reasons
  • There are seven volunteers, currently serving 25 people, hooking people to resources that are “person-centered”.
  • Many visits are currently done by zoom or snail-mail connection; grocery delivery is available.
  • We can refer vulnerable people but a physician connection is needed.
  • Birthday in a Box fund-raiser will be held the end of February..go to the website: www.mtevans.org
 
Mountain Resource Center: $1900 Up-grade of technology for MRC educators
  • Food was an emergency food source for the mountain community, partnering with the Food Bank of the Rockies, to provide a drive thru resource, serving up to 75 people every day. The number of volunteers has increased.
  • Veterans have also found a number of sources of assistance.
  • Mortgage and rental assistance and utility help were available for community in need.
  • The parenting programs, parents as teachers were done on-line; the internet system was up-graded with fiber-optics and the phone system was up-graded. Connection programs were up-graded for support groups and tele-medicine.
