- May 8th day of service: Leslie scheduling some follow-up for the planning this week. The committee is meeting tonight to work on getting the Jar filled to get that posted for the April event that will lead into May.
- Foundation Board is meeting immediately after this meeting today
- Arana has an idea for a potential fundraiser:
- Making seed bombs and selling them for the growing season.
- Originally the idea came out of New York in the 70’s: the idea is to be able to take these bombs, clay, soil, seeds and they break into the ground and plant themselves.
- Selling beginning of May end of June
- Thinking maybe high school students looking for volunteer hours and the Boys & Girls Club could help with making them because it looks like a messy fun project.
- Board is meeting and needs to approve the fundraiser, assuming it’s approved then we can move forward and may need to form a committee.
- Wes: this could also be a great opportunity to use as a fundraiser with the next Home & Garden event in 2022. We could do it now, and then again at the home and garden show.
- If anyone is interested in helping reach out to Morti and Arana, especially someone to help figure out how much to charge.
- Speaker Today: Arana Hagan- HeartMath
- Recently attended a refresher training on HeartMath.
- Arana started doing HeartMath about 8 years ago. She was a counselor and there was one area she noticed she couldn’t change, when she was driving and someone did something stupid and cut her off, she would get furious. Such a flash point that none of the tools she had really worked on stopping that burst of anger.
- Couple of months after she started doing HeartMath, she noticed her reaction was much better. The only thing that had changed was HeartMath.
- This program builds your resilience, ability to stay calm and alert, and to handle stressful situations. Goal of building resilience: ability to prepare for, recover from, and adapt in the face of stress challenge or adversity.
- This training is used by Police, Fire Departments, EMT and many more
- Started in 1991, Based on science and has been extensively researched.
- They can do a before test and after test and literally show this has changed the culture attitude and stress for people who have had the training.
- Arana is happy to do this training with anyone who needs it and can work to be flexible on structure (e.g. one hour or six hours)
- Additional information can be found at heartmath.com
- Click on training, and click on HeartMath Experience, they are offering these trainings for free
- March 27 12-2 she’ll be teaching a free class, please send Arana an email if interested.
